Colescott Rubin

Colescott is the eldest of the four Rubin Brothers and is an award-winning bassist, vocalist, entertainer, dancer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and educator. Though based in Boston with his brother A.J., he has performed in many countries, including Argentina, Spain, Iceland, & Russia, and with Grammy-winning artists Esperanza Spalding, Patrice Rushen, Catherine Russell, and John Legend, among others. He’s currently on staff at Berklee College of Music, where he also graduated ’20 on a Presidential Scholarship. His swing band “Colescott & His Red Hots” pays homage to classic American dance music, inspired by his great grandpa who played with Louis Armstrong 100 years ago in New Orleans. This year, Colescott is releasing his first full length album of all original music, a duo collaboration with legendary music mentor and trombonist/pianist, Phil Wilson. A.J. Rubin

A.J. is currently starting his third year as a trumpet performance major with focuses in Arranging and American Roots music at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has been playing trumpet since 2014 and has been leading bands since 2016. A.J. has a background in both the European classical tradition and jazz performance, however he’s loved experimenting with all forms of artistic expression. He enjoys mixed medium sculpture, ironwork (having built his own forge from scratch), experimenting with textiles and sewing, costume design, acting (he has experience in film, print modeling and television) and clown work. A.J. is skilled at juggling, unicycling, and using his clown skills to entertain folks of all ages, from 9 months to 99 years! While his main instrument is trumpet, he also plays other horns (euphonium and bugle), sings, and plays piano and guitar. His newest project, outside the Rubin Brothers, is the Berklee Early Jazz Ensemble, which plays popular music of the 1920s and 30s, and is Berklee’s first ever ensemble of this kind. Avi Rubin

Avi Rubin is the third of the four brothers, and is an award-winning scientist, multi-instrumentalist, and aspiring astrophysicist, with a passion for entertainment and education. He is 18 years old, and when not doing college applications, he is a freelance photographer, graphic designer, CAD draftsman, and musician. He runs an educational YouTube channel, The Terran Informed, est. 2021, which features a filmed-on-location travel series “Paleontology Across The U.S.” His newest project is a fully animated video, about the etymology of meteorology. He has taken on several forms of self-education, including: piano, saxophone, guitar, theremin, juggling, unicycling, baking, close-up magic, slight of hand, lock picking, morse code, calligraphy, knitting, origami, cinematography, comedy, math, engineering, semaphore, and other naval flag signaling.

Charlie Rubin

Charlie Rubin is the youngest of the four brothers, and is an award-winning freelance multimedia artist. At age 14, he runs an online T-shirt shop featuring his art, including the fantastical creatures he invents known as “Charlie Monsters”. He has a YouTube channel, Logic Denied, which features his artistic endeavors. Charlie is one of the world’s foremost experts on the My Little Pony (MLP) franchise. He also sings, plays the guitar, is an aspiring glass blower, and in his spare time, he enjoys doing things.
